How to Naturally Keep Your Hormones Balanced
Saturday, April 16th, 2016

The inner workings of the human body is complicated yet calculated, much like the natural ecosystems found in the surroundings around us. It must meet certain environmental conditions in order to operate optimally; if only one aspect is thrown off then there may be a chain reaction wherein everything else gets affected – thus making the probability of a malfunction further unavoidable. Hormones behave no differently – the body has a set amount for every type and should those set amounts get disrupted, then it may lead to a condition known as hormonal imbalance.

It may not sound like such a big thing, but hormonal imbalance can lead to medical conditions such as: sleep deprivation (which in itself can lead to other diseases), memory fog, persistent acne, mood swings, and even psychological disorders. There are a couple of options to remedy hormone imbalance – the first is by consulting withhormone replacement doctors such as those in Florida, and the second, slightly more labor intensive one is to abide by the following steps as much as you can.

Here are 4 ways to naturally bring back equilibrium in your hormones:
  • Eat well – This is a practice that should be observed as much as possible. Pick cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, or cabbage for a healthier diet. These have substances that assist in modulating hormones such as estrogen and are proven to have some anti-cancer properties. Include soy foods, seeds, and beans, too; the presence of phytoestrogens in them can also help in the hormone balancing effort. Lastly, adaptogen herbs such as holy basil, ginseng, and cordycep mushooms – in addition to hormone rebalancing, they are also capable of improving thyroid function, lowering cholesterol, and stabilizing blood sugar. The general rules apply too – avoid fatty, oily, and other unhealthy foods.
  • Exercise lightly – Refrain from extended spurts of hard exercise. Go for more relaxing activities such as yoga, tai chi, or even a relaxing swim. By slowly goading your body into shape will you only be able to bring it back to its “original configuration”; the body has the ability to heal itself over time. Should you end up straining yourself, be warned that it will actually make matters worse as the extra tension may end up forcing your body to produce more hormones, thus exacerbating the imbalance even more.
  • Sleep properly – Giving your body enough rest to allow it to recuperate from the day’s events is an essential part of bringing balance back in your hormones. Some hormones (such as Melatonin) are only produced at night while the body is asleep. Properly sleeping does not only benefit your hormones but the overall health of your body as well, so don’t skip on it and hit the hay by 10 p.m. and grab those required 8 hours nightly.
  • Limit Caffeine intake – While having a good cup of joe in the early morning isn’t too bad an idea, having a bunch more later in the day is. Overdosing on caffeine has similar effects to not getting enough sleep at night; this substance wrecks havoc on the body’s hormone levels and has effects such as dramatically elevating your cortisol levels and lowering your thyroid levels. There’s a good side to caffeine though: it’s known to promote weight loss and prevent cancer, if taken in moderation.

Basically, by keeping your body healthy and taking care not to abuse anything, your hormones will naturally rebalance themselves over time.
